27th Nov. 1932. A fine cold day, mostly sunny, but one thick shower between 12.30 & 1.30 pm which stopped all beating : after two days gale & rain : wind NW & still very high.
King William's Glen, above Drogheda, Co. LH.
[[underlined]] Dacnusa areolaris [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] abundant.
[[underline]] Colastes braconius [[/underline]] 1 [[image - female symbol]]
 } Beaten off ivy blossom on Turkey Hall wall. [[Bracket indicates side note applies to above two species]]
[[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] seen.
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]]? [[female symbol]]? seen by Daisy & George.

Sun very hot in shelter at foot of glen!
[Spent afternoon in wood on right bank of Mattock R. opposite Mellifont Abbey, Co. ME., where snail [[underlined]] Vitrina pyrenaica [[/underlined]] Fér. quite common : several also taken in dry roaside ditch under hedge on N. side of Slane Rd. just west of bridge above abbey. Very good ground along Mattock R. both above & below this bridge & great shelter from W. winds. Also excellent ground in open oak wood at upper end of King William's Glen.]

4th Dec. 1932. A beautiful day, with hot sun.
Wasps ([[underlined]] V. vulgaris [[/underlined]]), [[2 virgin female symbols]] & 1 [[male symbol]], abundant at ivy near Willington Ho., Templeogue, 11-0 AM - noon. Co. DU.
Also [[underlined]] Dacnusa areolaris [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]].

14th Dec. 1932. Very cold & dry, after similar ten days with E. wind.
One [[virgin female symbol]] [[insertion]] ^ ([[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]]) [[/insertion]] was seen at tree near Willington Ho., Co. DU. & several [[underlined]] Dacnusa areolaris [[/underlined]] beaten off ivy.
[NB. Several gales followed & terrific rain for 36 hours on 19th - 20th - 21st Dec.].
