6.) 11th March 1934. Cold & wet all day! [[line across page]] 15th March 1934. Cold, showery in morning Fine in afternoon, very stormy. Met Farrington at Glenmore Castle; Devil's Glen & explored woods on that side of the glen. One [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Pimpla maculator [[/underlined]] beaten out of silver fir on avenue. Some splendid ground for future work & having been introduced to Miss Smith who runs the garden, I can go where I like. [[line across page]] 17th March 1934. Cold, stormy & showery. Drove in afternoon to Bride's Glen, Shankill Co. Dublin. Nothing seen. [[line across page]] 18th March 1934. Cold & stormy (W-NW) with rising glass. Almost all sunny. Drove to sulphur mines at Avoca, Co. Wicklow, but the only hymenoptera taken were two Cynipids beaten of Scot's Fir & Gorse. One small (? [[underlined]] Aphidiid [[/underlined]]) seen on lunch paper, just as it flew away. Nothing taken by sweeping & willows [[end page]] [[start page]] (7. 18/3/34 cont. not nearly in flower at this place. On way down in moving also called at Ballyhenry Marsh, but nothing seen as taken by sweeping. At Avoca some [[underlined]] Coscinella [[/underlined]] beaten of Fir & Gorse & these brought home in case they were parasitized in by [[underlined]] Perilitis [[/underlined]], as one taken last year by A.M. Gwynn was stung, but parasite died in cocoon. Also a few Hemiptera beaten out of gorse & fir. Willows out at fork of road to Ballylusk & odd bushes out here & then en route, as at Kilmacanogue. [[line across page]] 23rd March 1934. [[underlined]] Anemone appenina [[/underlined]] out in front garden : ? late owing to earlier drought. [[line across page]] 24th March 1934. [[underlined]] Meteorus obfuscate [[/underlined]] Nees ? 1 [[female symbol]] hatched in jar containing Jungus gathered by E. O'Mahony at Glendhu ("pine Forest"), Co., Dublin, in August 1933 & from which many beetles - [[underlined]] Cis bolete [[/underlined]] - had already & were still emerging. OMahony think the [[underlined]] Meteorus [[/underlined]] must have been parasitic on [[underlined]] Cis [[/underlined]]. A.W.S.
