7th June 1934. A fine day but not so [[strikethrough]] fine [[/strikethrough]] sunny as those of previous week, afternoon mainly cloudy.
Drove, with Art O'Murnaghan, to waterfall in Powerscourt deerpark, Co. WI., & walked up by path E of fall to upper plateau.  Only collected above this point, & along upper Dargle to tributary coming down from Douce, up which we went for about a mile. Most insects taken in gorge above fall (=1) or at birch trees in "glen" at foot of the Douce tributary (=2). Alt. of collecting ground, would be from 800 to 1250 ft.
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] agrorum [[/underlined]], one or two [[2 female symbols]] only seen.
[[underlined]] Psithyrus distinctus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] seen. [[underlined]] P. [[/underlined]] sp? (like [[underlined]] quadricolor [[/underlined]]) 1 [[female symbol]] seen.
[[underlined]] Andrena jacobi [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at 1, with pale hairs on face.
[[underlined]] Nomada ruficornis [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] common flying to birch at 2.
[Many burrows in sandy moraine of tributary valley at 2 but no sun & no bees seen. Looks as good as the Slade Brook moraine in upper Glenasmole!]
[[Antaeon?]] spp all at 1, mostly on birch.
