18th May 1936. A fine afternoon after a foggy & dull morning: keen N.E. wind.
Coast for a mile N. of Balbriggan, Co. DU. (With Nora Fisher who was working the rock-pools for Mullusca &c.)

Many bees on cliffs facing south on 1st point N. of harbour, including: [[underlined]] Andrena jacobi, nigroaenea, [[/underlined]] albicans; [[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus [[/underlined]] & no doubt other species; [[underlined]] Nomada marshamella & goodeniana [[/underlined]]. Also: -
[[underlined]] Andrena wilkella [[/underlined]] many very fresh [[2 male symbols]].
[[underlined]] Odynerus pictus [[/underlined]] 1 very fresh [[male symbol]].
[[underlined]] Chrysis ignita [[/underlined]] several seen, probably [[2 male symbols]].
No other hymenoptera seen except a few [[underlined]] Bombi. [[/underlined]]

Garden at 14 Clareville Rd., Dublin, as usual. 7-8 PM.

21st May 1936. Very hot sun, but keen E. wind
[[underlined]] Odynerus pictus [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] in garden, 14 Clareville Rd., at 5.20 p.m; but no Crabros.

24th May 1936. A miserable day, cold, with an easterly gale & lowering clouds: very glad to have a fire to work by & did not go beyond the garden all day.

25th May 1936. Nearly all sunny, though fresh & chilly E. wind.
[[underlined]] Odynerus pictus [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] & [[underlined]] Chrysis ignita [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] in garden, 14 Clareville Rd., at 5.30 P.M. The latter by 6.30 had retired to one of the bores (="bungalows") in the clothes line post.
One small [[male symbol]] ick. only seen in garden = [[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] ?
Also one [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Bombus [[/underlined]] ( [[underlined]] lucorum [[/underlined]] ?) flew off [[underlined]] Erica mediterranea [[/underlined]]; one [[underlined]] Vespa germanica [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] seen; & one [[underlined]] Cynipid [[/underlined]] seen.
