11th Oct. 1936.  Glenasmole, Co. DU.  11.30 till 4 P.M.
Rather wet after rain on night of 9th & heavy dew on night of 10th-11th, so that sweeping only possible here & there.  Very hot sun till 1pm, then very dull but no rain.  Midges very bad all day.
Collected (1) at W. end of town dam on way up in morning;  (2) in sunny field & under trees just beside [[underlined]] Carex aquatilis [[/underlined]] half way up town reservoir;  (3) by path from middle lodge (formerly "Brady's" in now "Moore's"!) to upper dam;  (4) in plantation on W. side of upper reservoir near the top;  (5) more or less the same places on return in aft.;  (6) also where I was on 7th Oct., below town dam & at E. end of same.  The last lot "6" kept separate, all others lumped.

[[underlined]] Vespa [[/underlined]] sp. saw usual, probably [[underlined]] V. vulgaris.
Did [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] see a bumble bee!
[[underlined]] Cratichneumon [[/underlined]] cf. [[underlined]] rufifrons [[/underlined]] 1 very small [[male symbol]] at 6:  on this very late (or early ?) date.
