A ♀︎ Dacnusa pubescens taken at light in house at 11 P.M.; 14 Clareville Rd., Harold's Cross, Dublin.

A very dry day with very hot sun & dry cool E. breeze, after a dull, misty, morning & two intensely sunny days.

Went by 9.20 bus to Bohernabreena with Desmond Meikle, where Daisy joined us on bike, & walked up to the Slade Brook, where had lunch at about 1,000 ft., at 1 P.M.

Spent most of the day showing Meikle the plants, but collected insects in two places as follows:-

1 = Slade Brook, on Salix & Betula chiefly, or in marsh in old river channel, at 800-900 ft.
2 = Flat a head of upper reservoir, Glenasmole, chiefly along edge of Equisetum limosum association but some on dry sandy edge of reservoir on both banks of Dodder where it flows into the reservoir.

Bombus jonellus ☿☿ & B. agrorum ♀︎♀︎ seen.
Psithyrus ♂︎ (? distinctus)!
Various Andrena & Halictus sp. seen, not examined.
Sphecodes affinis?  ♀︎ seen at bee-bank by old river channel

Nomada hillana ♀︎ seen at 800 ft. with above.
Odynerus pictus  ♂︎ at 1,000 ft.
Pompilus nigerrimus  ♂︎ at 1,000 ft.
Crabro palmipes  ♂︎ at 1,000.
C. varius  ♂︎♂︎ at 800 ft.
C. dimidiatus  ♂︎♂︎ at 800 ft.
None mounted.
