Dec 1942 cont.

On 6th - a very wet day - spent all day at Phillipz's cataloging books, stamps, &c. & arranged with Nat. Ross for transfer of same & collection to Dublin. Left Cork by 11.45 train on 7th for Dublin - a very warm damp day! Brought R.A.P's stamps back with me to try to dispose of them for Mrs. Phillips.

10th - 31st Dec.

The weather continued mainly mild, stormy & wet at times, but no frost occurred till the night of 28th when a very slight frost occurred. After being very high on 14th (30.2) the glass started to fall until at 9AM. on 18th it was 28.1 - the lowest glass I can remember. After a short sharp rise it again fell to 28.2 at 11PM. After this depression the gales radically lessened & fine cold clear weather came on 2nd January.

George came home from Hamburg, crossing North Sea during gale & arrived in Dublin on the evening of 19th. He left for Hamburg again on morning of 2nd Jan.
