Continued from Vol. 15. 11th August 1946: A fine forenoon & midday. After a fine day & night, with rapidly rising glass; followed by a jam when wind went SE. & heavy rain & drip from 4 P.M. onwards. Left home in car at 2 PM. & drove to Landenstown, Co. KD., on Grand Canal; arrived there about 2.30, when everything seemed set for a fine afternoon, but SE. wind soon rose & jam formed to sough & by 3 P.M. it was obvious that rain would soon follow; at 3.30 wind dropped dead; at 3.50 squall from S. heralded the rain, which commenced a few minutes later. Left Landenstown at 4.30 & returned via Celbridge & Lucan arriving home about 5.30. Collected in two areas before rain at Landenstown, as follows:- 1 = Drain S. of road, plantation, reed-bed by drain S. of plantation & NW corner of hay field S. of plantation, 1/4 mile E. of Landenstown Ho. 2 = W. edge of S. end of last field which was in oats & rather weedy.
