The best day for a long time, with rising glass & strong S.W. breeze, which died away in afternoon; mild with plenty of very hot sun.

Drove in afternoon to Ballymakaily Bridge & Grand Canal, & walked up canal to Gollierstown Bridge:  4 till 6.30 P.M.  Swept in three areas as follows:-

1 = Edge of canal along tow path, especially the two "lie-bys", & edge of ponds 1/4 mile above Ballymakaily, all between loch & Gollierstown
2 = Ponds, &c. S. of canal & just W. of Gollierstown Bridge:  1st & 2nd ponds.
3 = Third pond, just W. of station 2 & S. of Canal.
All Co. Dublin.

Many Halictus spp. ♂︎♂︎ swept & seen, a few ♀︎♀︎.
Very few Bombus seen & mostly agrorum or lucorum.

Insects taken at 1.
