3.10.46, cont.  Skerries Bog, KD, cont.

Larvae of Lepidoptera & Tenthredonidae very abundant on birch everywhere & Dunlop by beating & I by sweeping took the following:-

Leptidopterous larvae:-  pudibunda, Sallow Kitten, Acronycta leporina (2 yellow haired! Dunlop)
Bee.  Sphecodes hyalinatus  ♂︎.
Sawfly larvae:-  Croesus septentrionalis?
Cimbex
Abia on Scabiosa succissa!
[From a larva on Salix brought home this day, I believe, a ♂︎ Phygadeuon (?) emerged on 14.7.1947 = }


6th Oct. 1946.

A fine day, dull for most part, mild, with gentle easterly breeze, after 3 fine days & a drizzly night.  Rode on bikes at 11.30 A.M. to Gollierstown, on Grand Canal, Co. DU., where arrived about 12.45.

Collected by sweeping in two areas, as follows:-
1  Edges of canal just S. of Gollierstown Bridge & two quarry-holes nearest bridge & S. of canal.
2  Edge of 3rd quarry hole S. of bridge & canal
