20th July 1948.

After two fine days, an approaching depression made dull afternoon, with rain later.

Drove Desmond Meikle - on holidays from the Herbarium, Kew, - to Brittas, Co. Dublin to see & get plants of Viola lutea on moraine [[strikethrough]] just [[/strikethrough]] 1/2 mile E. of the pub at Brittas;  later returned over the old Mt. Seskin road to Jobstown & so home.  3 P.M. till 5.30 P.M.

Collected a few insects along Mt. Seskin road on both sides of the summit, ca. 900 ft. alt. & here took:-

Pimpla melanaria?  ♂︎, black knees; ant. 30.
Stenomacrus laricis ♀︎, probably off young conifers in small plantation - not mtd.
Bassus annulipes  ♀︎: not mtd.
Homocidus nigritarsis  ♂︎: not mtd.
Apanteles sp. near pallipes?  ♂︎♂︎ common;  1 mtd., has fuscous marked legs
A. falcatus  ♀︎.
Pentapleura pumilio  1 large ♂︎, pale legs, ant. 27.
Dacnusa areolaris  1♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎ (one ♀︎ very small, dark legs) - none mtd.
D. elegantula  1♂︎, 1♀︎: not mtd.
Dipteron = Chilosia cf. illustrata ♀︎.
