A very warm day; nearly all sunny & sun very hot; air very soft; with westerly breeze & some light misty clouds - mainly to northwards. Left home in car at 10.30 AM. & drove to Grand Canal, near Landenstown, Co. KD. arriving at 11.30 AM. & leaving at 5.0 PM. Collected in four areas (as often before) as follows, but small hymenoptera especially Braconids very rare in places, such as station 3, where usually abundant at this season - no doubt owing to dry summer. 1 = plantation S. of road & canal, 1/4 mile E. of L. House 2 = two fields of barley & oats & weeds, S. of plantation 3 = marshy spots in grazing fields W. of 1 & 2. 4 = edge of canal, & drain between canal & road opposite & N. of plantation (= 1_. Aculeates taken or seen at 1 & 2 & various insects from killing bottle of doubtful origin. Drynids 2♂︎♂︎, 1♀︎ at 2 = Ichneumon latrator ♀︎, ant. 29.
