27th Sept. 1949.

A perfect day, cloudless & with very hot sun, till 5.30 PM., when a sea mist rolled in with gentle E. breeze. In the hills almost windless, but a very gentle zephyr from W.

Drove in afternoon to Woodend on S. shore of new reservoir between Blessington & Ballyward bridge. in Upper Liffey valley, alt. ca. 620 ft. & collected by sweeping in same place as on 24th but this time confined the sweeping to small grove of trees (mostly elm, beech & sycamore) between road & reservoir, in which only seven insects swept on 24th; this area includes a sunk drain (quite dry now!) filled with watercress. 3.15 till 4.50 P.M.
