DORSET TRIP MAY-JUNE 1950.

16-17th May 1950.

Left Dublin on B. & I. boat at 8 P.M. for Liverpool.  Had breakfast at Lime St. Hotel at 8 AM. on 17th:  went by bus to see the Cathedral before catching 10.15 train for Crewe, where changed on to the Pines Express (Manchester-Bournemouth) which brought us via Birmingham, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath, Blandford, to Poole at 5.4 P.M.  Caught 6.8 P.M. train at Poole & arrived Dorchester at 7 P.M.  After dinner Dr. S.D. Day & A.A. Lesney called & we talked till 10 P.M.


18th May 1950.

Dr. Day called for us in car at 11 AM. & drove us to Coombs Wood, where we stayed collecting till nearly 5 P.M.  A very nice mainly sunny day with wind first east & later north.  Many insects out in this wood of oak, hazel, maple, birch, &c.
