75.)

22nd May 1950.

All sunny with S. W. breeze, after some clouds in early morning. Took 10:20 A.M. train to Easton, in centre of Isle of Portland, & walked to West cliffs & then along top of cliffs back to Portland station & so home. Spent day in blazing sun along cliffs or in old quarry workings above the west cliffs. Arrived Easton 11.15 A.M. Left Portland at 5.45 P.M.

Some interesting plants seen, but insects very rare, perhaps too hot & too early in season! Also Dr. Day says that best collecting is to be had on east side of the island or along base of west cliffs.
