Sleith & Dr. Taylor (of Vet. Research Station Weybridge, Surrey) in Sleith's car to Malahide & then in ferry to The Island, as Taylor interested in birds & wanted to see the tern colony. Arrived in The Island about 1 P.M. & after watching the terns for half an hour had lunch. Then walked along E. road up the Island, across golf links to W. coast & back to ferry at 4.30 P.M. & so home. Tried sweeping here & there but very little taken (? owing to wind). Much burnt by picnicers & much of the old fallow fields on W. side of the peninsula now carted away via Donabate for concrete - in fact the whole once beautiful place now in a mess or nearly all. 162.) 12.7.50, cont.
