For list of Hymenoptera taken at Ballytaige, Co. WX., by R.C. Faris on 6.8.1950, et seq., see p. 215 -> 186./ 6th August 1950. A very fine day, mainly sunny, but one heavy cloud for half an hour & slight shower at 12.30 noon just after we reached Woodbrook. Left home around 10.30 AM., Daisy, Marcus Graham, and I, and drove via Monasterevan [[Monasterevin]] and Ballybrittas to N. side of Woodbrook estate, N. of Emo Park, Queen's Co. Arrived at 12 noon & went into sand pit (= 1) where formerly Andrena marginata & Nomada argentata had been taken by me in 2nd & 3rd weeks of August. We were I knew a week too early, but hoped for the best! Two Andrena marginata taken by Graham only & I think I saw in sandpit two Nomada argentata but failed to catch either. Later collected in scrub between back (ruined) gate of Woodbrook Ho., & Mountmellick canal, N. side of road (= 2). Had tea at 4.30 P.M. on bridge over R. Barrow & then drove into Portarlington & on to Monasterevan [[Monasterevin]] & so home. Stopped just E. of Wheelahan's Bridge, Queens Co., & swept south side of canal for half an hour (= 3). Left Wheelahan's Bridge at 6.5 P.M. & home at 7.30 exactly Graham reported a [[female]] of 2nd brood of Holly Blue Butterfly near a Holly Bush at 2, in scrub. Wall, Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Silver-washed Fritillary, Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, & White Butterflies also seen.
