205./ 17th Aug 1950. A fine day spoiled by SE-W jam which formed between 11 A.M. & noon & brought heavy rain in places, but we were lucky. Left house in car & drove in machine to Glenasmole where left car at middle lodge. Walked up to track which runs from Ballymorefin (?) to [[col?]] between Corrig & Seecawn : half a mile up left track & went in to ridge N. of Seecaun & from thence along the [[?]] dyke (Dublin - Wicklow) to the summit of Seecawn, by which time the jam had formed & we found ourselves almost surrounded by clouds, mist & rain, except to west where sun still shone. Had lunch on cairn with a few drops of rain at 1.15-1.45. Saw several [[male]] wasps about cairn & one bit on me & proved to be a [[male]] V. sylvestris (as in 1949!). As rain to N. approached we left summit & came down track to Ballymorefin in slight rain following drop in temperature. Rain soon passed & sun came through though still raining to S. over Kippure to North over Dublin. Had cup of tea on upper Dam in Glenasmole in sun & later tried sweeping in two areas, but strong W. wind got up & blew 206. 17.8.50, cont. Glenasmole, Co. DU. up the glen & with slight rain made collecting useless, so left about 4.45 & drove home. Collected by sweeping in two areas:- 1 = Vegetation in dry lake bottom & in dry spillway at outlet (NW corner) of upper lake 2 = Path from upper dam to lodge, just as rain commenced! Larret Tahur at 1.
