18th May.

Not so very hot as previous three days & with sea-mist most of the day. As George home for weekend & able to keep Daisy company, I drove Alan Mitchell & his wife to Killoughter, near S. end of the Murrough, Co. WI., arriving there about 11.40 & staying till after 5 P.M. Conditions very perfect for insects but few small hymenoptera about - either along coast or in marsh.

Collected by sweeping in two areas, as follows:-

1 = sandy strip outside railway S. of Killoughter old station for about a mile 12 noon till 1.30 P.M.

2 = ditto N. of Killoughter to Grange lane; also edge of marsh S. of & at Grange lane. 2.30-4.30 P.M.

Left for home about 5.10 & home about 6.30 P.M.

Saw the following bees. Osmia auralenta ♂︎♂︎ & ♀︎♀︎, Bombus lucorum, agrorum, muscorum & lapidarius, Andrena albicans ♀︎♀︎. A ♀︎ B. muscorum seen on flower of Orchis incarnata at 2.
