19th June '53.

A very nice day - especially in the afternoon when we drove to Ballymackaily [[Ballymakaily]] Bridge over Grand Canal, Co. DU., and walked up the canal to Gollierstown Bridge and Pond. Swept round the pond SW of the bridge for an hour, but very few Hymenoptera except at W. end of the third pond - i.e. W. of the wire fence! J.P. Brunker with us, whose last sister died on Monday. Stopped on outward journey to show Brunker the Bee Orchid in old quarry N. of Clondalkin & opposite St. Joseph's monastery. Here saw nearly a dozen flower spikes of it & also saw it on both sides of the canal above & on NW. side below Gollierstown Bridge.

[17 mtd. & these labelled 8.3.1965.]
