15. 9th Sept. 1953 After 3 very hot & sunny days, this was much cooler & almost entirely dull; but dry. Wind strong: N. in early morning, backing to S.W. in afternoon. In afternoon left home at 2:30 & drove to Naas - Daisy, I, Miss Smythe & J.P. Brunker - went on to Oldtown House & later to Landenstown, Co. KD. Collected by sweeping for half an hour in each place as follows:- Left Landenstown at 5.5 & home 5.50 P.M. 1 = between road & reed filled lake at Oldtown House, as on –– 3.15-4.0 PM 2 = S. edge of Grand Canal & parallel drain at plantation 1/4 mile E. of Landenstown Ho. 4.30-5.0 PM (1) Oldtown House, Naas, Co. KD. Oronotus binotatus ♀︎, ant. 29. Cryptinids 9 only 2 mtd. = Phygadeuonid ♀︎; ant. 19, tri coloured; with short terebra! Phygadeuonid ♀︎, ant. 20, red at base. Bassus "tricinctus" ♂︎ Perilissus? Campoplegids 2♂︎♂︎ Bracon fulvipes large ♀︎, ant. 34, rather dull coloured. B. rugizonatus miki, ♀︎, large, ant. 33: possibly only a var. of tenuicornis Thomson. Blacus diversicornis ♀︎, ant. 20. Leiophron ater (N.) Nal. et Marsh. ♀︎ = subsulcatus Thoms. Ant. 25. [Opius geniculatus small ♀︎: not seen when labellling on 16.11.1965. AWS.] O. cf. aurantipes ♂︎? var. with black apices to hind tibiae: ant. 29. Otherwise seems to belong here! AWS. 16. 9.9.53, (1), cont. Oldtown Ho., KD., cont. Alloea contracta ♀︎ not mtd. Pentapleura pumilio ♀︎: not mtd. Adelura flaviventris ♂︎, ant. 28. Aspilota spp. 3 = A. tumida ♂︎, ant. 20. A. sp.? ♂︎, ant. 24; tergite 1 reddish, with dimple, propodeum semi-regulose, &c. A. sp.? small ♀︎, with dimple ant. 19: like a small "snoutor"! Dacnusa laevipectus abundant, nearly all ♀︎♀︎: none mtd. D. bellina & gilvipes 1♂︎ of each: not mtd. D. brachycephala? ♀︎, ant. 28 (near raissa, but eyes larger & higher in head! AWS.) This species very like my lucania! AWS. 1965. Praon volucre 4 (♂︎ & ♀︎), black ant.; reddish abd.: 2♀︎♀︎ only mtd. Ant. both 18. Ephedrus plagiator 3 (♂︎ & ♀︎): not mtd. Proctos 28: 4 mtd. = Conostigmus?? 2 minute wingless, 1♂︎, 1♀︎. Paramesius ♀︎ of 2 & ♂︎ of 12: these are I now think the 2 sexes of one species!
