25. 17.9.53, cont. Taken by R.C. Faris near Caragh Lake, "on a little knoll", Co. S. Kerry, on this date. The following 8 insects mounted (& labelled) 21.9.53; the remainder - mainly Chalcids & proctos. - packed up in paper. Hemiteles sp. ♀︎, ant. 20. Stenomacrus laricis ♀︎, ant. 28. St. flavicoxis m. = carbonariae Roman! ♂︎, ant. 22. Angitia exareolata ♀︎, ant. 26. Rogas cf. cantharis? ♀︎, ant. 38. R. nigriceps Wesm. ♀︎ - a very red specimen! - ant. 41. Chelonus ♂︎, ant. 32. Chalcid 1. 19th Sept. A ♀︎ Cryptus cf. titubator Thunb., ant. 38, taken at light, 14 Clareville Road, Dublin. 22nd Sept. 1953. After three days wild weather & much rain, with S.W. gale. Wind down to moderate & much sun in afternoon. In afternoon Daisy & I drove to Brittas Ponds & walked up lane to Lynch Park where I tried sweeping in stubble & along edge of turnips & clover strips = 1; later came down W. side of the Slade of Saggart & swept under beech trees near top of glen & near road, where found Icks, &c., very abundant = 2. Very few taken at 1 - no doubt owing to recent bad weather. Saw two butterflies - 1 certainy a Speckled Wood - & quite a few Bumble Bees, including a faded ♂︎ Bombus muscorum & a somewhat faded ♀︎ B. terrestris. 26. 22-9-53, cont. Lynch Park, 1,000 ft., Co. DU. Taken at 1 (Stubble, turnips, cover, &c.) 3.30-4.0 P.M. None mtd.! Stenomacrus ventralis ♀︎. Sigalphus caudatus? ♂︎, black legs. Dacnusa laevipectus & pubescens 1♀︎ of each. Praon cf. volucre var, with dark base to antennae: 3♂︎♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎. Proctos. 7 Chalcids 2. 22.9.53, cont. Slade of Saggart, 700 ft. Co. DU. Taken at 2. (Under beech trees, &c.) 4.30 till 5.0 P.M. Phaeogenes cf. fuscescens? 3♀︎♀︎: none mtd. Dicaelotus nasutus 5♀︎♀︎, two of which only mtd.: ant. 26 & 27. Cryptinids 8, Stilpnus, Atractodes, Pezomachus & Hemiteles: none mtd. Homocidus pallipes var. ♂︎, ant. 22. In Schmied's key this runs to xanthaspis Thomson & seems +/- fits the description, but to me it is only a very pale ♂︎ of pallipes! AWS. 1965. Orthocentrus radialis 3♀︎♀︎, not mtd. Stenomacrus ventralis 2♀︎♀︎: not mtd. Stenomacrus carbonariae 2♀︎♀︎, ant. both 21. St. merula ♀︎, ant. 24. Aperileptus sp. 3♀︎♀︎ Plectiscus humeralis 3♀︎♀︎: 1♀︎ mtd. Ant. 20. Agrees with series from Devil's Glen named humeralis by Dr. Roman. Bracon discoideus 1♂︎, ant. 25: abd. pale in centre! Meteorus scutellator ♀︎, ant. 33. Aspilota fuscicornis? 2♂︎♂︎ - not mtd. & 2 others = Asp. falsifica, large ♀︎, ant. 24. & A. prona ♀︎, at. 20: a very clearly marked specimen, with v. prominent "snout".
