14th July 1954.

A poor day on The Ben, with strong W-NW wind & wet misty rain at times. Mr. Colville, Marcus & Nora Graham & myself walked up the Lawers Burn, had lunch at SE. angle of The Stuic, up to top of Raven's Rock & over summit of Ben Lawers & home. Collected a leaf off my Sax. [[strikethrough]] rivularis [[/strikethrough]] cernua! AWS. 1963. (= 1); a leaf off Sax. cernua (= 2), & on way back a leaf of the well-known Sax. rivularis (= 3) on E. ridge.

After lunch at the Stuic, where saw much Veronica saxatilis, Carex atrata, Erigeron, &c., went along its S. cliffs & then cut S. across the screes & went up the E. side of the Raven's Rock, seeing on route Carex atrofusca (sparingly) in two places near where I saw a patch in 1951 or 1952 (?).

Then went up to summit along N. ridge & so home via E. ridge & burn E. of "Mealower". Noted the Sagina nivalis round cairn on summit in poor condition & rarer than last year. Found very small form of Kobresia caricina in flush SE. of Raven's Rock at ca. 3,300 feet.

15th July 1954.

A fine day with much hot sun & fresh NW. wind, after a slight shower about 10.30 AM. Collected in the glen of the tributary of Lawers Burn, below road; for an hour (10.50 till 11.50 AM) (= 1), before catching 12.5 bus
