Dear Duke de Tallyrand,

Having examined the set of four Beauvais tapestries known as
"l'Education ou les Quatre Ages", woven by command of Louis XVI as a
gift to Louis Benigne de Berthier de Sauvigny on the occasion of the
marriage of his daughter and whose cartoons are said to be based of
sketches by FRAGONARD, it is my opinion that their current value on
either the European or American market is $ 170,000. Each of the
tapestries, one entitled "The Marriage", another "Motherhood and
Infancy", a third "Education of the Children" and thr fourth "Pleasures
of Youth", being of equal value would be worth $ 42,5 ^[[number 5 written over the number 0]] 00.

Yours sincerely,

signed: Francois Gérard SELIGMANN
