October 21, 1957

Dear Cesar,

Herewith I am sending you a copy of a letter dated October 19th, just received from Mrs. Halpert, which you will find self-explanatory. Simultaneously herewith a copy of my answer to her.

For your information, going over the books of de Hauke and Company, I find that this watercolor was sold to her on October 13th, 1928 for $3,200 (three thousand two hundred). It would seem too, that you purchased it from Alex, Reid, and Lafevre, London.

Looking through some old photographs I have found one which would seem to correspond to this description and to facilitate matters for you in case you should not remember it, I am forwarding to you herewith a photograph of same. I do not recall having ever seen this picture and the one Mrs. Halpert refers to may be of course an entirely different one.

Do let me hear from you on this subject and hoping you are well and with best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
