COLLECTOR'S OFFICE
UNITED STATES INTERNAL REVENUE,
FIRST DISTRICT, NORTH CAROLINA.
Plymouth May 25th 1866

Capt. H Seeley

My dear Sir,

I wish you would give an order to Lieut. Doge here to hand over to Alfred F. Garrett this Bale of Cotton held here in Store. You will recollect Lt. Schwartz sold it & recd the money, and you could not get hold of him. It is perfect Robbery of Garrett, for has always had an agent on the Farm & it would be a gross act of injustice to deprive him of this little might, in his present impoverished condition. I hope my request will be gratified & thus terminate this little matter. The expenses of storage are eating up the bale

Truly yours
E.W. Jones
