The female flew off the nest and across the river. She was very anxious and was joined by her mate. In Lyons' peninsula we found a Bluebird's nest in a Woodpecker hole. Found a young Bluejay with it Brain's eaten out by a White-rumped Shrike. Then we went home.

This morning I went down in Fisk's pasture. An old meadowlark seemed very anxious and I hunted around until I found his young. The male makes all the fuss and the female keeps quiet in the meadowlark family. One flew into a wire fence and hung for an instant.
