Peirce Rocks 10:15 A.M.

Dec. 23, 1901
[[marginalia]] number [[/marginalia]]
[[marginalia]] food [[/marginalia]] This morning Art Rudy and I watched some Chicadees feeding. There were three of them picking the iron seeds for little grubs that had lived in the hard meat.
[[marginalia]] feeding habits [[/marginalia]] They clung to the tips of the branches and pulled them off and then held them under their feet while eating them. A great number fell on the ground and one little fellow made several trips into the snow after them only a few feet away.
[[marginalia]] notes [[/marginalia]] They kept up talkative notes all the while. When we first came one came down and looked at us as if to see what we wanted.
