[[marginalia]] drawing [[/marginalia]] [[image: drawing of Black Ash seeds]]
This afternoon I went back where I had seen the Pine Grosbeaks. Heard one call and saw several in a tree. One flew into a Pine but I could not locate it. In the mean while the others slipped off. They seem to slip off when I am not looking.
[[marginalia]] food [[/marginalia]] They had been feeding on Black Ash seeds.
[[marginalia]] explanation [[/marginalia]] I drew several. Sometimes the seeds were slit as in the outside ones and sometimes clipped of clean as in the lower one. They disappeared in some way and the one in the Pine must have followed them.
