Near Rob Dickies 7:30 A.M. April 21, 1902 This morning Mother and I drove to Baraboo. A male Meadowlark lit on a post by the road. [[marginalia]] size [[/marginalia]] He looked very big beside his mate on the next post but it was probably because he puffed his breast out. The female called a little anxiously but did not seem afraid. [[marginalia]] singing [[/marginalia]] He turned his breast towards and sang with an open bill that looked like a pair of shears.
