them but this was accounted for by the distance apart of suitable feeding grounds. At Kirkland about fifteen Bluebirds were sitting around in the trees. Jacques did not know what they were at first.

There was a tame crow here named Pat that he used to own. It would eat out of any ones hand and would keep just out of reach if you tried to catch it. Otherwise it would come very close. It could say "hello" very distinctly. It was in full plumage.

This afternoon at home I went over to the Half Moon. In J. Hacketts woods Redstarts were quite thick. They were very restless and hard to see. They flew from one part of the woods to the other continually 

Olive-backed Thrushes were fairly numerous and I saw a flock of about 50 Purple Finches in the farther side near the track. They were feeding on the ground and in the trees and contained red and yellow ones. The yellow ones were females ^[[and]] young. When I had reached the Half Moon it began to rain
