down at me and I shot her. There were about thirty around our barn this morning. By the Tamarack Swamp I found the Chicadees and with them were a great number of Redstarts. I watched them closely for other warbler but everywhere I saw only the flash of their fanlike tails. Old and young were inter-mingled and all gave a note like [[underlined]] tseet [[/underlined]].

Here I found a family of Crested Flycatchers. They kept among the leaves and were hard to locate. The young ones had a note like the old ones.

Saw a number of Yellow-bellied Woodpeckers  They are beginning to spread now. Both this species and the Downys are coming around town. While nesting they kept closely to woods.

July 25, Monday.
