anything more that I could see.
I am almost certain this male was C.
A few days ago,on BCI, I saw the male of the pair of Yellow rumps near my house sitting on a high exposed perch ca. 6:45. Uttering TssN's. Then he flew to join the female in a tree a few feet away. Uttered "Zraaa zraaa" as he landed beside her. Presumably very accelerated HAC-type (?)R's. The female flew away immediately. The male immediately began to utter typical (?)R's. In unritualized posture at first. Then Back R developed as he continued to utter (?)R's.
Back same area in the evening.
6:00 p.m. C sitting in tree above area where female carried (?) this morning. Uttering series of TssN's with wings drooped & Back R!!! Drooping gradually becomes less extreme. Back R maintained. Then begins to preen between notes. Female flying part occasionally. Building? Male tends to utter (?)'s or (?) R's when she appears. Wing drooping increases when he utters (?)or (?)R's. Then he goes back to TssN's when female disappears. At same time, wing-drooping becomes less!!!
All working out in classical manner !!!
6:26 p.m. Male C in usual tree. Uttering (?)'s and (?)R's very rapidly one right after the other. Accelerated but not too soft. In extreme Back R with extreme wing drooping. Wings & tail vibrate with syllables of R's. Female sitting about 20 ft below him. In more or less normal sitting posture, but with breast and belly feathers very (very underlined)fluffed. Then female flies. Male follows her almost simultaneously. Leads to
long pursuit flight with more (?)R's and/or (?)'s. Birds disappear from view, still flying.
