Stopping observations 11:15 am

Mixed Diglossini, I August 15, 1967
Santa Marta Region

Going to work along "highway" again this morning. Starting rather far along, at upper limit of the area of the flock, border slide.

First bird sounds, in USTF, 5:19 am. At first motley and unidentifiable. Then a lot of Rattle-Flourishes

Going to walk further up road.

5:27 First Whitestart CXXVII Song down hill. NODWAH. Stops. Again. NODWAH. Stops. Again, as before.

See single ✓36 Cheek Altapetes 2ft up scrub edge road. Uttering "PN"s. Apparently alone.

[[margin]]Albi[[/margin]]
5:31. Hear first Albi type R. NODWAH. Stops. Then more Whitestart CXXVII Song down hill. NODWAH. Stops.

[[margin]]Nocti[[/margin]]
5:37. Well! Well! Well! Hear what sounds rather like carbonaria s.l. Twitter Songs. Rather "rustier" and more "uneven" than most. With penultimate or terminal R's. Coming from small brush in "open" area, covered by ferns and other low plants, with only a sparse scattering of small bushes. Bird Sings phrase after phrase. All NODWAH. (Actually, I don't think there is anything else, relevant, around here which could compete for "air space".) The bird is invisible from my point of view. Then it shuts up. Flies into dense scrub
