Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 19, 1962, V

[] Albi []
8:40 am. Come across mixed flock near A Glor area. Including 1 Basileuterus (probably same species as Quito), unidentified furnariid (leaf gleaner type), hummingbirds, 2 Andean Sparrows, and at least 1 WM Atlapetes. 1 Ad. ♂ Albi and 1 Buff-throat fly into area where other birds are feeding. Start to feed themselves. Very low in vegetation. When adult ♂ Albi flies up to feed on tubular flowers.

Most of flock gradually drifts off. Ad ♂ Albi and Buff-throat show a definite tendency to follow the others. But I don't think they could have followed the others very far.

[] Albi Cy ]
At least I look up a minute later to see an adult ♂ Albi perched on a branch nearby. About 20 ft above ground. Probably uttered some "Tuck"s before I looked. When I do look up, I see there is an adult cyanea feeding in the same branch! Hops right by the adult ♂ Albi.

[] Albi Cy ]
Must have come within a foot of the latter. The cyanea utters a few "Tseet"s or "Tsit"s as it hops along, but appears to ignore the Albi completely. The cyanea then goes to feed on some flowers a few feet away, and then flies off. The adult ♂ Albi sat quietly while the cyanea passed. (He may, conceivably, gone into a weak silent St. at one point while the cyanea was close; but I am not sure about this.) When the adult ♂ Albi follows the cyanea when the latter flies off.

So the psychological barrier between Albis and cyaneas is by no means insuperable!

[] Glor []
Come back to A Glor area 7:00 am, to hear a bird singing what I presume are Glor songs, but again I couldn't see the bird.

ADDITION: While the adult ♂ Albi and the Buff-throat were feeding with the mixed flock, they uttered lots of R's Apparently when
