Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 21, 1962, IV 24

As a result of my observations of the local diglossini so far, I think I can say the following

[] Glor []
(1) Gloria is primarily or exclusively a bird of dense thickets, which are not overshadowed by high trees. Extends over a fairly wide rage of altitudes. Apparently most common just below the páramo. Primarily a bird of relatively dry areas. (The only places I have seen it in rather definitely strongly humid areas are near Téleferico [[Teleférico]] #1 and one place this morning. Neither of these places is as humid as some areas inhabited by albilatera.) In general, it would appear that gloria, here, fills the ecological place of fraseri near Quito!

[] Albi []
(2) albilatera is the dominant form here. Comparable to aterrima near Quito. Primarily or exclusively a bird of moderate or very humid areas. Primarily a bird of thickets (both bare and covered by trees), but also going up into tree-tops with some appreciable frequency. Apparently most common well below the lower limit of the páramo, but its total altitudinal range seems to be almost or completely identical with that of gloria. Perhaps more insectivorous than the other local diglossines, in the same areas. Perhaps more often associated, and associated more closely, with mixed flocks than any of the other local diglossines

[] Cy []
(3) cyanea. The local population of this species seems to be very similar to the Nono population. Perhaps more nectarivous [[nectarivorous]]. Perhaps slightly less "exclusive."
