Mixed Diglossini, Sept 22, 1962, III

[] Gen BQ Albi []
more species here. Is this also an indication that many of the species here (especially the BQ and Albi) have arrived only recently??
In the afternoon, arrive near Chorros de Millas 4:00 p.m. Hot sunny afternoon. No diglossini around at all.

[] BQ []
BQ around, feeding in one of the usual Eucalyptus trees.
5:00pm.

[] BQ Bari CC? []
I wonder if it is significant that the BQ and CC are similar in pattern, while the CC and ♂ baritula are similar in color? Do CC's and baritula really overlap?

[] Gen []
See a Tropical Parula Warbler in a tree sometimes frequented by BQ's. I wonder if this resembles C. sittocolor intermedium in the field? Must compete with the local diglossinies in any case.

[] BQ []
Can hear BQ singing 5:17. Song usual type for local population. Then begins to combine song with warbling phrases. "Fa-ta-sreeeeeeee-zur ta-ta-ta-sr-eeeeeeeeeee-zur [[drawing of sound waves]]" sort of thing. I don't know the reason for this change. (After the change has begun, I see some wintering N. American warblers in the same tree.

[] BQ []
See a BQ apparently picking insects off leaves, 5:35 pm.

[] BQ []
6:05. Back at hotel. BQ who uttered songs of doublets and triplets yesterday back at it today. These songs have very little rattle undertone anywhere (Individual AA)

[] BQ []
There seems to be considerable individual variation in the songs of this species here.
