34 Mixed Diglossini, September 24, 1962 Páramo La Negra Arrive same place as yesterday 5:40 a.m. Still fairly dark. [] Glor [] First "Glor" songs heard 5:43. Some,at least, with terminal R components. One bird uttering phrase after phrase, without pause, each phrase with terminal R. These R's are definitely much lower in pitch than rest of phrases. Almost "yaaaah" [[sound wave drawing under ah's]] 5:56. Lone bird is now tending to add little bits of warble after the R. Not always, however. First pause 5:57. Brief. [] Glor [] Another bird singing phrase after phrase does not have any R component. I shall call these 2 birds A & B, and check them later when light is better. [] Glor [] Can see B now, 6:05. Definitely Diglossa. Singing with head pointed diagonally upward. Breast & belly rather fluffed. Looking from side to side during & between songs. Humeral patches conspicuous. No "streaking" on flanks. His songs composed of a greater or less number of "Zewa"s (2 - 5 or 6), usually ending with a "Zewa-a-a". [] Glor [] [[side view image of B]] B's singing posture
