Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 24, 1962, X.

[]Inter[[/margin]]
vis Cy or Coer than vis a vis Glor????

The degree of morphological resemblance between the local diglossines might be represented by the following diagram.

[]Gen[]
Is it significant that all the forms which are largely or primarily insectivorous (with the possible exception of the BQ - which is probably a recent arrival anyway) are gray, gray-blue, or blue above, and more or less rufescent or buffy below??? And that the two most nectarivorous species are primarily black, with light spots on the sides??? Surely not.

(The color & pattern of the Tropical Parula Warbler might also be significant in this connection. Blue above may be correlated with arboreal habits. And it is quite possible that the Tropical Parula is really part of the "highland disglossine assemblage".)

The Basileuterus spp. may have avoided the "insectivorous diglossine" color scheme because they are more thicket-loving than any of the insectivorous diglossines (again with the possible or probable exception of the BQ).

[]CC? Glor[]
I forgot to mention- it is my impression that the songs of the CC's here may be appreciably more twittering than Glor songs
