Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 26, 1962, IV

A few minutes later, found a single PL Atlapetes following same route as Inter and mixed flock! This must be a major highway

[] Glor []
Single Glor uttering particularly abbreviated songs. "Ta-a zee zee zee" Repeatedly 8:21 am

[] Inter []
8:45 Come across another mixed flock At least 500 yds to the side & downhill from where I left the previous flock. This flock includes 1 Basileuterus nigrocristatus (ie. the "Quito" species), and 1 Inter. Almost certainly not the same inter as with previous flock Inter follows the warbler at least twice. Searching for insects in both trees & low black-berry bushes. Inter quite silent, except for a few "Trit"s. This species may sing relatively rarely!

[] Glor Inter []
This flock was in area of a Gen. The Glor approached the flock almost as soon as it appeared. Fed in the same trees. At one time no more than 5 ft from the Inter; but the 2 birds seemed to ignore one another (at one time, the Glor "pounced" on another bird uttering R as it did so; but I think the other bird was another Glor.)
[] Glor []
The Glor never sang; and left the immediate area some minutes before the flock did.

There was a squirrel (red tail - black tip) near the flock the whole time (first squirrel I have seen here).

The flock eventually drifted off — downhill

[] Glor []
8:55. The Glor who has sung "interrupted" songs on previous days is doing so again. Also flycatching. And I am sure that this is the same bird who did most of the flycatching seen on previous days.

9:15 et seq. I then went down hill, in the direction in which the last mixed flock had gone. In a sort of low wood. Lots of shrubbery under trees but quite open in spots. Also intersected by cow trails.

Transcription Notes:
Atlapetes - NOT Altapetes. Had several pages where someone transcribed this word as Altapetes.
