except that they don't seem to have any "K" quality.)

Looking back over my notes (Sept. 16), I see that the sings of all or almost all the local BQ's are usually or always uttered in doublets or triplets (Some of my later brief notes on BQ's way be slightly misleading, insofar as they may imply that some individuals usually utter songs of single phrases. Whenever I refer to the bird around here who utters songs in doublets and triplets, I mean the "AA" individual).

NOTE - May 31, 1965
According to F. C. Lehmann, the "white cecropia" only occurs in relatively humid forest. This species is common on the lower parts of the Pico de Espejo. This would seem to confirm my suspicion that the Sierra de Mérida is among the more humid parts of the Andes. Which, in turn may explain the rarity of lafresnayii here.
