Mixed Diglossini, Aug. 29, 1965, II

[[margin]] Gen [[/margin]]
There are lots of (salmon) pink Passifloras in bloom here now.

Atlapetes seem to have shut up, temporarily, now 6:51. The I hear one Whitestart Song phrase. Apparently White spectacled. NODWA. Then White spectacled shuts up. Atlapetes start Singing again. NODWA.

[[margin]] Cy [[/margin]]
6:55am Hear Cy(s) Singing down hill. Typical phrases. Song for rulers Twitters preceded by "Trit" Intro Notes. At first Cy(s) alternate(s) phrases with Atlapetes. No overlaps. Then both birds seem to become careless. A number of partial and complete overlaps. Then they alternate phrases without overlaps again. Then Cy(s) shut(s) up. Atlapetes shut up a few minutes later.

SEE ALSO TODAY'S NOTES ON GENERAL MIXED FLOCKS.

[[margin]] Coer [[/margin]]
8:15am. See 2 Coers ✓✓✓✓(37) 20 ft up in tree. Alone. One individual apparently adult. The other certain young (light on bill). Adult pulls insects off leaves. Juv. follows adult. Then juv. Begs. Wing Q with hoarse "zleee" type Notes. Apparently it is fed by adult. Then both birds fly down hill and disappear.

[[margin]] Inter Coer [[/margin]]
COMMENT: The significant features of this morning's observations were the appearance of an apparently non-gregarious Inter and the anonation of Coers with mixed flocks.

[[margin]] Coer Cy [[/margin]]
This is one of the regions where Coers are particularly puzzling. Their feeding habits and ranges here would appear to be essentially the same as those of the local Cys. They appear to be both largely arboreal and Allogregarious. If so, they seem to fill essentially the same niche as Cys in other parts of the Andes. (They may, in fact, be even more "typically Cy-like" than are the local Cys!!!)

[[margin]] Inter Ruf [[/margin]]
The Inters here may fill the same niche as the Rufs in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
