Mixed Diglossini, Sept 3, 1965, II

[] BQ []
phrase after phrase. In "horizontal-diagonal" posture 12 ft in small tree. Then flies into adjacent Eucalypt and continues Songs as before. Singing posture apparently unritualized - except for a slight trace of CR.

[[image - sketch of a bird ]] Notice shape superciliary stripe! (This is not exaggerated!)

This individual certainly would appear to be in breeding condition

6:31 Its phrases seem to have become stereotyped now. Like the phrase transcribed on the preceeding page.

[] BQ []
All the hummingbirds are still quite silent 6:33 am. But I can hear some other BQ's Singing in distance. Different individuals overlapping at least occasionally.

[] BQ []
Then hear some hummingbird hostile noises (not Song) completely overlapped by BQ Songs.

6:47 Again some hummingbird hostile noises completely overlapped by BQ Song.

[] BQ Scan []
As far as I have been able to tell, no hummingbirds have approached the Singing BQ I have been watching.

[ BQ Scan []
BQ's finally shut up 6:50 am. But there is no outburst of "Chuk" Song immediately afterward.

[] Scan []
But then I do hear one brief series "Chuk"s 6:52 NODWAH Then more Scan-type hostile noises.

[] Scan [[margin]]
Perhaps the Scans here are not in fall breeding condition now? (Certainly, I have heard the birds at Bogota Sing much more frequently at times.)

[[magin]] BQ []
BQ back Singing as before 6:57 am NODWAH.

Stopping observation 7:00 am.
