Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 17, 1965, VII

[] Humer? []
as a Black Diglossa ✓✓[[1 pencil, 1 red pencil]] feeding on yellow tubular flowers. Has well developed humeral patches, but is small. And also proportioned like a Humer.
[]Laf Coer? []
When a Laf about 20 ft away begins to sing, this apparent Humer flew down into low scrub. Hiding??? In any case, the Laf did not come over ✓. Humer & Laf with non-overlapping territories here too? Then a Blue Diglossa appears in territory of presumed Humer. I think Coer but I can't be sure. In any case, the presumed Humer follows it ✓ [[red pencil]]. Even follows it in flight. Looks like inhibited chase. Silent. Notice that the Black Diglossa is
[] 71 [[red pencil]] []
noticeably smaller than the Blue. (This probably would support identification as Humer & Coer.) Then both birds disappear.

This behavior quite reminiscent of reactious on Guadelupe!

[] Humer []
Going back to area where presumed Humer originally seen, hear Humer-type R; but don't see bird.
Leaving 9:00 am.

Mts. above Bogotá

Working Prime Eucalypt area again this morning. Arrive 5:42 am. I.E. earlier than on previous days.
There is a small amount of bird noise when I first arrive. About as much as at Guasca at dawn yesterday
The Prime Eucalypts already contain some diglossas, hummingbirds, and a thrush. But not very noisy yet.

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
A slight increase of noise, including some R-Zaza's, ca 5:45
