Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 25, 1965, II. [[circled]] 94 [[/circled]] [] Laf [] avoid overlapping non-diglossini Songs? I think so (viz Guasca in 1962). This trait must be correlated with the partial breakdown of mutual avoidance and inhibition among the Diglossini themselves here. COMMENTS [] Gen [] I. The frequency of inter-specific hostility here is not immediately correlated with density of population. The group of Diglossines around the Prime Eucalypts is the most crowded population I have ever seen. The population above Guasca is much like some populations near Quito. the population at Agua Bonita seems to be comparatively sparse. [] Gen [] II. It is interesting that the "flocks" of Diglossines have been seen only in association with introduced plants (Eucalyptus and Abutilon). I wonder if there are (or were) any native plants which attract(ed) flocks??? [] Coer Cy [] III. It has just occurred to me that I probably have never seen Coers in areas where Cy were absent. This is, perhaps, rather surprising -- as the ecologies of the two species seem rather different. Do Coers pick out area as "suitable for colonization" because they see Cys there???? April 26, 1962 5 La Aguadita SEE TODAY'S NOTES ON GENERAL MIXED FLOCKS COMMENTS: [] BQ?
