ion could be summarized by saying that is [[underlined]] both a buffer and a model. [[/underlined]]

I took my altimeter to the airport to be checked yesterday afternoon. It appeared to be [[underlined]] under [[/underlined]]-estimating altitudes by 68ft. This must be kept in mind when assessing the altitudes recorded on previous pages.

The altimeter has now been corrected.

Go up to San Juan and find, by luck, that the [[underlined]] Old [[/underlined]] Road to Santo Domingo is now open to two-way traffic!! So we start down it. Unfortunately, there is light but steady, pervasive rain, so we park at 10,700 ft, 5:55 am. Still quite dark. Everything very quiet.

SEE TODAY'S NOTES ON GENERAL MIXED FLOCKS.

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]] 8:40. New area. Ca. 10,325 ft. Lots of dense second growth scrub. See Laf [[checkmark above Laf]] Singing. Perched 6 ft up. Another Laf [[checkmark above Laf]] in scrub. below singer. Presumably mate. Then a third Laf [[checkmark above Lab]] appears in scrub across road. Singing Laf flies towards newcomer. Mate follows. Newcomer flits away thru bushes. Followed by the pair in apparent hot pursuit. The pursuit is accompanied by brief snatches of Song. This is more evidence that that Song is at least partly hostile.

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]] 8:47 More Laf Song. NODWAH.

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]] Walking down road, see single Laf [[checkmark above Laf]]. Silent and alone. 2 ft up in scrub. These also is a single green hummingbird perched in small tree about 10 ft away. Rather [[underlined]] Eriocnemis [[/underlined]]-like. Almost completely dark

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]] , should this not be written as left ?
