Mixed Diglossini, Feb. 11, 1964, IX [[circled]] 17 [[/circled]] [[margin]] Bari [[/margin]] Can hear what sounds like Bari R Songs uphill from where I saw Bari before (still on same side of Brun area, however.) Seems to be way up in Eucalypt. [[margin]] Bari [[/margin]] 5:31. Finally see Bari Perched on Agave leaf. Uttering R songs. [[underlined]] Has white edges to tertials [[/underlined]] (possibly not as conspicuous as in the Bari that uttered Twitter Songs?). Flies off almost immediately. Haven't seen [[female symbol]] yet. She certainly doesn't usually follow or associate with the [[male symbol]]. [[margin]] Scan V [[/margin]] 5:36 See a [[underlined]] Colibri coruscans [[/underlined]] attack & drive off a hummer V feeding on agave flowers. (This [[underlined]] Colibri [[/underlined]] is obviously very aggressive. Very frequent intra-specific fights & chases. Even if it attacks diglossines frequently, this does not necessarily mean that it is "singling them out" for special attention.) [[margin]] CC [[/margin]] 5:45. Hear a very brief burst of what sounds like CC triplet song from eucalypt. While all other diglossines are silent. [[margin]] CC Brun Bari [[/margin]]5 :50 What sounds like Brun sings many Twitter Songs from all the trees in which CC sang two mornings ago. High up. 50 ft above ground. Can't see bird while singing, but catch glimpses of it in flight. Looks dark and Diglossa shape. At first no other diglossines audible. Then both CC and Bari sing a few phrases. Carefully inserting their phrases between Brun phrases. No overlap of any sort between any of the birds. CC phrases are more or less triplet. Bari phrases are R's. Then both Brun & Bari shut up. CC sings lots of triplet songs. Can't see bird. But phrases quite slow & deliberate. CC singing from one of the trees in its old area. One of the ones from which Brun sang a few minutes ago. But when CC and Brun were alternately phrases, they were in different trees, 30 ft apart. [[margin]] V Bari [[/margin]] A hummer V darts at, obviously attacking, [[male symbol]] Bari feeding on agave flowers. But the latter stands its ground. Just turns head to look
