Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 12, 1963
[[circled]] 12 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Poos CC [[/margin]] the same type of scrub as the birds that utter triplet songs. And their songs did not overlap with CC songs. (As far as I can remember, they didn't overlap with real CC triplet songs either.)

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] The vocal repertory of the CC is becoming clearer. All or most vocal patterns of adult birds can be grouped as follows.

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] I. "Pairing" Song. Presumably uttered by males only. And only when separated from mates. Composed of a few identical phrases, each phrase including only a few notes (3 or 4). Relatively slow. Notes clear and distinct. Presumably produced by thwarting of the pairing drive. Possibly no other motivation involved.

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] II. Bisyllabic Notes. "Zeewa" type. Each syllable distinct. Repeated variable number of times. Not very fluctuating in tone or pitch. Apparently purely hostile and uttered during purely hostile encounters

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] III. Twitters.
Probably largely ambivalent. Including both hostile and non hostile components.

Usual form is "Greeting."

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] Accelerated forms giving impression of R may be higher intensity, [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] more aggressive.

During the afternoon, went along various roads near Cuzco (including the [[underlined]] other [[/underlined]] road toward Urubamba) without hearing or seeing a single diglossine.
