Mixed Diglossini, Oct. 19, 1963, IV [[circled]] 9 [[/circled]]

above her. Utters R-Zaza during swoop and first part of soar. I presume that this is a modified "pounce" pattern.

[[female symbol]] certainly has stopped soliciting today. So I presume that the [[male symbol]] is satisfying her.

[[margin]] Carbo [[/margin]] [[female symbol]] still building steadily 7:02. [[male symbol]] in Eucalypt about 30 ft above her. Once when [[female symbol]] goes down to collect n.m., [[male symbol]] swoops down on her with loud R-Zaza I think he lands beside her momentarily but flies away again immediately.

It is certainly my impression that the [[male symbol]] is "pouncing" on the [[female symbol]] much more energetically (or at least spectacularly) now that copulation has apparently occurred. Presumably his cop. drive has been lowered, leaving his hostility more free to express itself.

[[margin]] General Diglossini [[/margin]] I must say that the behavior of these and other Diglossinis does seem to be [[underlined]] remarkably Emberizine-like! [[/underlined]]

Both Carbos of pair feeding in Eucalypt. [[female symbol]] utters R-Zaza when she lands near [[male symbol]].

[[margin]] Carbo [[/margin]] [[male symbol]] has certainly stopped "pouncing" now. 7:18. Still in trees. Occasionally singing. [[female symbol]] building.

NOTE: I forgot to mention that the presumed cop(s) this morning occurred about 10 ft from the nest site

[[female symbol]] stops building 7:30 am. Apparently goes to far side of territory. [[male symbol]] in Eucalypt above hedge starts to sing "Ta zee" songs as soon as [[female symbol]] leaves. Eventually flies off in the direction in which she went

[[margin]] CC Carbo [[/margin]] As soon as [[male symbol]] Carbo leaves, the CC begins to sing. From same tree. About 30 ft up. Rather long twittering phrases. [[underlined]] Also feeds on Eucalypt flowers. [[/underlined]] Then [[male symbol]] Carbo flies bak to same tree. But lands about 20 ft from CC, does [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] attack the latter. Nevertheless,

Moved "-ly)" from beginning of this page to end of last page, per hyphenation rule. n.m. probably means nest material.
