I told him that I was directed by the Omaha Committee and the attorneys in the case to say to the chiefs, that they had concluded that the best way to solve the difficulty was for the Poncas to leave in small parties and go back to their old home.  If they were arrested, I would telegraph the attorneys and they would come immediately and defend them in the courts.  A test case would thus be made up which would settle the matter for the whole tribe.
